From the from 1900s to today with a few exceptions

I'm mostly interested in the real life application of techology, stuff like microcontrollers and sprinkle in some pneumatics, hydraulics in there. My industry of choice for work after my schooling is over is the defence industry, in general engineering type of stuff.
